"Macky SALL Award for Dialogue in Africa".
CIRID launches the "Macky SALL Award for Dialogue in Africa".
Aim: to stimulate the birth and the consolidation of a spirit of listening and mutual tolerance favorable to the peaceful resolution of conflicts. Sponsored by the Senegalese President, this prize is based on a concept whose official presentation took place on December 13, 2016, at the Swiss Press Club in Geneva.
This distinction will serve to honor and encourage all political and social dialogue initiatives in Africa. It also wants to send a significant message destined to support and carry the efforts of the African Union (AU) and the regional and sub-regional groups that make it up, including the diaspora, which is, according to a decision of the AU, the sixth geopolitical force of the continent.
President Macky SALL, in praising CIRID's efforts, "gratefully" accepted this visionary initiative.
The Senegalese Head of State emphasized that "Africa needs such an innovation to consolidate the foundations of its political stability and economic development".
An official ceremony will take place every year in Geneva after deliberation of the jury. In the meantime, a forum on Dialogue in Africa will be held in Dakar to highlight the latest research and the most successful attempts.

BIOGRAPHIE DE SA MAJESTE LE MOGHO NAABA LAURÉAT DU PRIX MACKY SALL POUR LE DIALOGUE EN AFRIQUE 2017
37th Emperor of the Mossi Tribe, His Majesty the Mogho Naaba Bâongho was enthroned December 21, 1982. He took the name of Reign "Bâongho" literally meaning "the valley", the "oasis". It is therefore under the symbolism of "the permanent presence of life" and "landmark" that his Majesty the Mogho Naaba has built his reign for thirty-five years now.
Guarantor of the Moaga cultural heritage, he is the protector of both history and tradition. His influence is great and his authority important. His Majesty the Mogho Naaba is a person of prime importance. Constant dialogue is his weapon. Open and very discreet, His Majesty has clearly distinguished himself from politics. His wisdom and weighting make him a "model" being whose ultimate goal is to help make his country a prosperous and radiant nation.
He is, indeed, firmly engaged in the resolution of crises ranging from that of the households to that of the entire Burkinabè nation. Private mediations are legion and His majesty is sometimes self-sufficient to solve questions that could trigger and bleed the life of the Nation. The most recent examples are, among other things, his leading role for a return to stability and peace in the "People's insurrection of October 2014", that of his mediation in the case of the failed coup d'etat and its corollary of consequences in September 2015. With all his weight he weighed to ease the hearts, to reconcile the parties in order to spare the country the bloodshed and to guarantee a its stability. We still remember his role in the outcome of the "mutinies" that have enameled the life of the Great Mute: riots against the cost of living, to name but a few examples, which shook Burkina Faso.
His Majesty the Mogho Naaba is sought in the resolutions of the most drastic and complex socio-professional conflicts and this on a daily basis. He is the last resort when everything seems lost. But the listening, the permanent negotiation which constitute the modus vivendi of the man to whom his charisma is added allow to lead to outings of crises. The problems are solved without even being noised.
Added to this is the ongoing dialogue with all religious denominations in order to contribute to the influence of the Nation. The equally permanent dialogue with the other kingdoms does not turn away from the initial anchor point of crisis prevention, management and resolution.
Advice, lavish, hearings he gives, self-giving he does and without distinction of any kind; making of His Majesty a moral personality to which citizens, organizations of all kinds, political, religious and customary authorities turn for any type of dialogue capable of guaranteeing peace and social cohesion. These actions in this area, if known at times, are, however, a tiny part of the great human being he is. In the social sphere, more than two hundred people, mostly women and people with disabilities, receive help every week. The foundations and humanitarian associations that benefit from the generosity of the emperor cannot be counted. Besides, there is no need to enumerate or proclaim it. All good work must be done in discretion. This is the injunction that hints at his Majesty the Mogho Naaba Bâongho on everything he does in favor of development. That being said , the merit is recognized. And the merits he has and the people of Burkina Faso just like the people of the world have not stopped to testify to him.
The most recent one is that witnessed by the Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for all his actions in favor of vulnerable people. This reminder prize was entirely redistributed to orphanages, nursing homes, health centers, community and religious works, among others. It is thus far from finishing to convince us on the generosity and the humanism of the man. Raised to the dignity of Grand Cross of the national order (highest distinction) on December 4, 2015, other distinctions preceded, and not least, because of the merit to the commander he was recognized in the rank of his dedication.
Winner of the CIVIPAX Award in 2007, he received the honor of the Universal Peace Federation in November 2008 and was also Grand Officer of the International Military Sport Council. Ambassador of the Progrès Africain in 2012, he is promoted to the rank of member Es-quality and president protector of the COPTAC. The honorary certificate of COPTAC was awarded to him in 2017. In total, he received more than one hundred (100) certificates and certificates of merit or recognition; nearly 50 medals - merit honors, from national to international.
Married and father, His Majesty the Mogho Naaba is a sports enthusiast. He took his first steps in karate, savored the delights of cycling and became passionate about football. Great goalkeeper he played in first division at the Union Sportive of Ouagadougou (USO). Even after leaving the field, he never gave up his passion for football. Thus, it has undertaken to stimulate young people to have new talents in order to raise the level of national football. It was then that the cup called "Mogho Naaba Bâongho" was set up. His sports field speaks volumes about his commitment to sport. His passion however is not turned only towards sports.
Writer, he put his pen in the service of his people through poetry. The themes of forgiveness, friendship and solidarity to name just a few are evocative.
He is for the people a great cultural and traditional symbol which works body and soul and with joy for his homeland.
His Majesty the Mogho Naaba is the lighthouse that allowed the nation of Burkina Faso to locate the shore when the waters were both stormy and muddy and the broad stability of the country were in drift. May he have long life and always serve.
